The One Word I’d Like 2022 To Be About for Me — INDEPENDENCE

That’s what I want for 2022. I want to simplify my life. Toss out the stuff I don’t need — how many pairs of pants do I really wear? How many pairs of shoes are necessary? Do I have the room to decorate my place with boxes and boxes of Christmas stuff? That would be a NO! No more storage lockers! Freedom from stuff. The challenge to anyone, throw out those hideous garden gnomes!

I do declare my independence from things I genuinely don’t need but that’s not all. I make my own decisions, say what I think, when I want. Don’t let anyone talk me into doing things I don’t want to do.

I would like to be self-sufficient — doesn’t everyone? This will be a test, but I am going to try like hell to do it. It all starts with the purge of stuff. I am going to take some advice from one of my favorite singers.

Freddy Mercury passionately sang: “I want to break free!”

Most of all, I would love to be financially independent — so would everybody, I know. But I’m tired — and so are a lot of people — of being broke. I don’t want to rely on anyone for money. That purge of stuff will help.

One final declaration of independence. Politics. No, I won’t stop writing about our screwed-up system — sorry for those that were hoping. What I have in mind is I refuse to shackle myself to a narrow interpretation of what politics is. I will write what I want. About whom I want — Donald J. Trump? We’ll be over him, right? We can only hope. But I will keep giving my two cents.

FREEDOM!
