Doing taxes was straightforward. A person would sit down in front of you. They would pull out a bunch of wadded-up papers from a bag. Straighten out the wad and organize it and input the paperwork. Answer any questions and explain the results. Then they would be happy or angry depending on the outcome. After COVID, tax geniuses thought it would be great to “digitize” — In steroids.

Obsessed with Technology!

Do you like to play with your cellphone? Upload, download, snap photos. Squeeze in some tax knowledge between? Why not? What could go wrong? How about spending half an hour teaching them how to do upload and take pics. THANKS, COVID!

But wait you don’t even have to come to an office anymore. Just call incessantly. Are my taxes done? If not, when? You answer the phone more than you do taxes. Hey but there’s an even better revolution! Approve your taxes from your laptop. The Approve online evolution is here! Review your taxes from your comfy chair. When you like what you see, press the button on your computer and APPROVE [or call to complain you don’t like the results].

Supervisors swirl around interrupting, asking if they uploaded your documents.
