New House Speaker Kevin McCarthy made it officially. He denied seats on the House Intelligence Committee to Democratic Reps. Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff, the former chairman of the panel. SHOCKING NOT!
I cannot put partisan loyalty ahead of national security — McCarthy wrote.

Was this a part of his Faustian bargain to get speakership? Did McCarthy capitulate to the caucus’s right-wing?
Is prospective Trump running mate Marjorie Taylor Greene whispering in McCarthy’s ear?
Payback? The two California Congressmen played key roles in Donald Trump’s two impeachments.
Retribution? For Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar. Reminder: kicked off their committees. MTG and Gosar for inflammatory rhetoric and promoting violence against their colleagues.
We’ll have to see what committees Greene and Gosar land. Looks like Greene will be on the House Oversight Committee. What could go wrong there?
