Are Debates Inconsequential?

Has the Art of Discussing Opposing Views Irrelevant? Think Strategery!

They yell over each other to the point you can’t understand what either of them says. Donald Trump mastered this in his presidential debate.

They want the spectacle. It’s just not about what they say. It’s the hand waving, finger pointing, incessant water drinking.

They dip, dodge, duck questions. Stutter, stammer. Faster than playing a game of dodgeball. Yes or no questions turn into a two-minute tirade.

Insult each other and the moderator or moderators.

Call one another names — racist, clown, nasty, and puppet.

Debaters play to the cameras.

Does the audience learn anything from either of the candidates? Except they’re obnoxious or rude and bigger liars than we thought.

Just because their eloquent speakers don’t mean they will make good lawmakers. It just means their adept at being politicians. And if they are not articulate? That shouldn’t disqualify someone from elected office.
