On June 20, an adventurous pal asked me to go for a day of hiking. It’s Hike with a Geek Day! Should I be offended? Unplug and have some adventure! I’ll admit I am not a friend of nature. I like to spend my days with a keyboard in my lap and headphones listening to heavy metal. I had a pit in my stomach. This was not going to go well.

Human interaction is great! By the end of this day, I might not want to interact with this human again!

My friend chose a “scenic” trail. Scenic my ass! I wonder now if he was trying to kill me! Was he after my autographed Dark Side of the Moon album? I lost count of how many tree roots I tripped over. How many branches I ducked, and how many mosquitos I killed.

As we hiked, he went on and on about teamwork. Teamwork, right? Where was the team who should have told my friend to bring the F*CKIN’ BUG SPRAY?

Bug spray! Don’t forget the bug spray! He forgot bug spray!

But I did lather on the sunblock!
