Dear Alvin Bragg, Manhattan District Attorney:
Defender of states’ rights don’t let Republicans hush you
Trump expected his arrest. Anyone else rooting for that? He called for his cult to protest. He didn’t specify a peaceful one. He didn’t on Jan. 6 either. With any luck, you’re prepared for when an arrest does come. Certain Republicans are trying to squash the case. Intimidation? Wonder what they are hiding?
Should you hold off? To piss him off. Keep him waiting and spinning. Won’t take much for that. Did you catch his speech in Waco? The delay may make protestors look even more ridiculous. Not like they already don’t.
Trump is calling you his “political enemy”? Do you know if Trump is running for Manhattan DA? That would make you his political enemy.
The “radical DA” as Trump calls you. Would make a great beginning for a campaign ad. He likes the word, radical. Radical this, radical [insert name].
You may think you’re in a no-win situation. If you don’t charge him. Trump and his minions will portray you as weak to half the country. If you do charge him. Half the country will hate you. Like they already don’t, right? So, why not? Upset feds alleging you’re trouncing on their thunder. They’ve also had years to do something. Trump is already irate. So, who cares.
Do your job. Keep interviewing witnesses. Tune out the noise [Trump’s lawyer doing the media tour]. Reminder: don’t check your own mail or answer your door.
